One of the first steps in building a successful online brand is to know who your ideal clients are. There really is no way around it.

If you try to talk to everyone and aren’t specific enough, you’ll end up with wishy washy messages that attract no-one. For instance, I am not trying to help everyone and their mum, I am focusing on female solopreneurs with a service-based online business.

I’m going to assume you understand who your ideal clients are and that you already know their pain points and desires. If you are still unsure, just picture who you would want or not want to work with for now.

In this post, I’d like to show you simple ways to drive your ideal clients to your online business. Let’s dive into it.

Understand your unique value

Getting clear on what makes you unique in your industry is key to showing up confidently in your business and attracting clients.

This comes with a clear brand strategy, which is a step most female entrepreneurs skip when starting their online business. They end up losing sight of their value,  charging too low for their service or worse, stop showing up online.

If you’re not clear on what differentiates you from your competition, what makes you unique and why you are best placed to serve your ideal clients, how would you expect your audience to be?

As mentioned above, fully grasping what the situation of your ideal clients is will be crucial for your brand success.

Read their mind. Understand what they are struggling with, what keeps them up at night and create an offer that solves a specific problem.

Solving their dire need is essential but your offer should go way beyond what they need, it’s about offering something they WANT.

They might absolutely need your program but if it’s not packaged and promoted in an attractive way, they just won’t buy it.

Ever noticed how good Apple was in creating desire around every.damn.product. they launched? Yep, you already have a phone but I’m pretty sure you were at leeeast tempted by every upgrade. It’s always a want, not a need.

Market yourself where your clients are

Once you put yourself in your ideal clients’ shoes, you’ll be able to understand where they hang out online, what type of information they consume and from who. It becomes easier to put your message out there and speak to an engaged audience.

There is no magic trick though. Growing your audience online will involve putting efforts into your visibility and building genuine relationships with your prospects before they convert and buy your services. It’s about refining your process so you speak to the right person with the right message at the right time.

Create a brand identity you and your clients love

Beyond being aesthetically pleasing and bringing consistency across platforms, solid branding can help you build ‘know, like and trust’ much faster and help establish yourself as an authority in your field.

The thing is, many female solopreneurs are having anxiety promoting their services because they are not IN LOVE with their brand.

Firstly because they don’t think their brand is attracting the type of clients they want to work with.

Secondly because they feel their branding doesn’t showcase who they are.

You need to be proud of your brand and TRUST it will attract the right audience to confidently promote your services online. When you are not aligned with your brand look&feel, your message and your ideal clients, you know it’s time for a rebrand.

Drive ideal clients to your brand through valuable content

As explained in my other post, the top branding mistakes you’re making in your online business, start with a brand strategy first THEN work on your marketing and content.

The reason is, you need to know your target audience and positioning so you can craft messages that resonate and convert.

Once your brand message is clear, focus on delivering value to your target audience. This can be in the form of Instagram stories, Facebook group trainings, your blog, LinkedIn posts etc.

I know what you’re thinking ‘ Ok Mel but if I put my best content out there, people will no longer need me and buy from me’. Friend, fear not. You can totally give all your juicy information for free and still attract a consistent flow of clients. How does that work?

It is not so much about giving away value as it is establishing yourself as a trusted expert in your field. Yes your clients and even competitors can ‘stalk’ you on Instagram for months and absorb alllll the knowledge but they still won’t be able to do things exactly the way YOU do.

Your ideal clients will appreciate your valuable content and identify you as THE expert they want to work with to get from A to B.

That is the entire point of building a brand, including your personal brand. Understand what sets you apart, find your own voice, and create a unique connection with your audience no-one else can replicate.

Focus on helping your audience, keep putting valuable content out there and the RIGHT people will come to you.
